Famous YouTuber discovered deleted scenes from Elden Ring about Miquella and the Haligtree!
"Famous researcher and “data miner” Lance McDonald has published a new video showing some scenes from the early development phase of Elden Ring that didn't end up in the game."
McDonald has dedicated his entire YouTube career to videos related to video game cut content, hacking, developer tools, prototypes, and debug modes explored. This time, 4 years after the game's launch, he managed to find a deleted cutscene and map directly related to the very beginnings of the Haligtree's growth.
We are all well-acquainted with the arena where we face Malenia, as we've all visited it many times. Many? Perhaps "too many" is a better term. Because of that, it’s natural to expect everyone to know what the Haligtree is if I say it’s that massive tree located behind her during the fight. Others, for whom that fight was too difficult, will know which tree is being discussed, as it was possible to cheese the fight with her using it.
What Lance McDonald discovered is an unused version of that arena that looks structurally identical, but in its center lies a young and small Haligtree sapling. That arena has no function within the gameplay; instead, it is intended for displaying a cutscene.
That cutscene doesn't function as it should because some files were removed in later stages of development, but he nevertheless managed to sync the video file with the dialogues that were supposed to accompany it and succeeded in showing it to us within the aforementioned video. The investigation revealed that this event was originally scripted to trigger after the player receives the left Dectus Medallion from Gideon Ofnir. You can find more details in the aforementioned video.
