Falcom has officially confirmed a new game reveal for February 2026 as part of its 45th anniversary celebrations. President Toshihiro Kondo shared this during Taipei Game Show 2026, spotlighting an unannounced title separate from Trails in the Sky the 2nd Chapter.
While Falcom is already preparing the release of Trails in the Sky the 2nd Chapter, Kondo made it clear that this anniversary reveal is something separate. According to him, the project has not been shown publicly before and is progressing well enough to be considered feasible for release within 2026.
That wording is important, as Falcom traditionally avoids announcing games unless they are already deep into development. The February timing appears strategic rather than symbolic. By choosing an early-year reveal, Falcom avoids competing with the heavy marketing noise of spring and summer showcases, giving the announcement room to breathe.
It also positions the new game as a statement piece for the company’s anniversary year, rather than a minor side note alongside other releases.
Speculation and Market Context
Naturally, speculation has already begun over what this project could be. Falcom’s identity is closely tied to long-running series such as Ys and The Legend of Heroes, yet Kondo avoided language typically associated with sequels or direct continuations.
That has fueled theories ranging from a revival of Tokyo Xanadu to the possibility of an entirely new intellectual property, something the studio rarely attempts due to its commitment to serialized storytelling. The broader market context makes this reveal especially interesting, as JRPGs gain momentum on PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo platforms.

High Expectations Ahead
Falcom’s reputation for consistency, tight combat systems, and long-form narratives places it in a strong position to capitalize on that trend. While no trailer, title, or platform list has been confirmed yet, Falcom’s history suggests the February reveal will offer more than a logo or vague tease.
If the studio delivers concrete gameplay direction or a release window, this could become one of the first genuinely meaningful announcements of 2026, driven less by hype and more by earned trust
