Believe it or not, legendary gamer Faker has become an honorary police officer in South Korea to help fight online gambling among younger audiences.
One of the most famous and legendary League of Legends players, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, recently received the title of honorary police officer and ambassador for cyber gambling prevention in South Korea. This role was awarded to Faker by the Korean National Police Agency, which wants to use his huge influence among young people to raise awareness about the dangers of online gambling.
Faker will take part in a nationwide campaign promoting the Youth Cyber Gambling Voluntary Reporting System, a program designed for young people who want to report problems with online gambling and receive professional help to get back on the right path.
As part of the campaign, Faker will appear in promotional videos and on posters, while using his influence and authority to encourage young people to seek help before the problem becomes so serious that it is difficult to recover from. The program runs until August 31, and so far, more than 800 voluntary reports have already been recorded.
Fans reacted to the news with great excitement, making plenty of jokes that Faker had completed another side quest. However, most people believe he is the perfect choice considering the reputation Faker has built as one of the most respected professional players in the history of esports.
