Fable has been delayed again... But don’t worry; because this time we all know why! You know it, and we know it too... It’s GTA 6
Xbox officially moved the Fable release date from Fall 2026 to February 2027. Wow... Pretty far away! The official explanation for this is that 2026 is packed with huge games and they want Fable to get its own time to shine. But... It’s not exactly all as it seems...
This unspoken reason carries one pretty huge and famous name; GTA 6!
Fable denied rumors just a month ago that it was avoiding GTA 6, and now it still got delayed right outside of that period. Although; besides GTA 6, at the same time we are also getting Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, as well as Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Realistically, Fable would probably get buried under these massive launches.
Honestly it does make sense, because the Fable reboot is way too important for Xbox to risk bad launch timing, since this is the return of one of their most famous RPG franchises, and the first major Fable game after many years, and probably one of the most important Xbox exclusives of this generation. So if the launch failed, the internet would eat them alive.
Most people on the internet have the same opinion that this is the GTA 6 effect. But a lot of fans actually support the delay because the game looks very ambitious and Playground Games has no experience with Fantasy RPGs, and people would much rather have a polished Fable than a rushed mess, so with this delay they now have even more time to work on the game itself.
Xbox claims the delay is because of better release space... But the entire internet is reading between the lines; and that is that actually NOBODY wants to go head-to-head with GTA 6
because as we all know... IT’S WAY TOO RISKY!
