Exodus gameplay shown! Fans call it “New Mass Effect”

For the first time ever, Archetype Entertainment has revealed their new interstellar RPG, Exodus.

In the new trailer, they showcased gameplay, mechanics, combat, and a glimpse of what the world will look like. Naturally, fans were quick to react with, “This is the new Mass Effect!” and based on what we’ve seen so far, it’s hard to blame them, as it might not be a coincidence.

The trailer also confirmed a 2027 release date for PC, PS5, and Xbox. Alongside that, several short gameplay clips highlighted key features:
Combat is presented as a third-person cover shooter, with squad mechanics that allow players to fight alongside teammates (similar to Mass Effect). Abilities can also be used during combat.

One standout feature shown was something new; a space grappling hook called the “Rainclaw.” It can be used for climbing, movement, and exploration across the environment.

Speaking of exploration, the trailer also revealed space towers, ancient shrines from old civilizations, and a visually impressive world.

So why does Exodus feel so much like Mass Effect?

The answer is simple, former Mass Effect developers are working on the game. It’s not just similar by chance; many of the same people are behind it.

Fan reactions have been mostly positive, with many saying the game looks beautiful, smooth, and cinematic. However, there are also concerns. Some players feel that while it looks good, it may be too similar to Mass Effect and still lacks a clear identity of its own.

EXODUS is a sci-fi action-adventure RPG where you become the Traveler, leading humanity’s fight for survival against the Celestials. Set 40,000 years in the future, the game focuses on exploring unique worlds and facing the consequences of time itself, shaping the fate of future generations.
