Nintendo Switch 2 owners and fans of the Resident Evil franchise will be able to enjoy several excellent remakes starting this October.
Capcom has enjoyed an incredibly successful run over the past few years. In 2026 alone, the company released three of the year's best games: Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. So it seems fitting that Capcom is now bringing the game that helped kick off its recent streak of success to Nintendo Switch 2.
On October 16, Capcom will release its 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo eShop. The same day will also see the arrival of the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 and the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4.
With RE2 and RE4, players are getting two of the best Resident Evil games ever made, while the eShop versions will include all of their respective DLC content. In the case of RE4, that means the excellent Separate Ways expansion is included as well, telling part of the story from the perspective of Ada Wong, Leon's occasional love interest.
With more than 19 million copies sold and that number still growing, there is a good chance that almost anyone with even a passing interest in the Resident Evil franchise has already played RE2. Still, its arrival on Switch 2 alongside RE3 and RE4 gives fans another opportunity to prepare for Resident Evil: Veronica, which Capcom plans to release sometime next year.
Veronica is a remake of 2000's Code: Veronica, originally released for the Sega Dreamcast. Chronologically, the game's story takes place shortly after the events of RE2 and follows Claire Redfield, one of the series' main protagonists, as she attempts to find her brother Chris Redfield, another recurring lead character in the Resident Evil franchise.
