The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is an expansion that will officially celebrate its first decade since its release this week. For those who don't know, it is the last piece of content in which we had the opportunity to take on the role of Geralt. The developers are not indifferent to this date either, so a celebratory stream has been scheduled for Thursday, in which fans hoped they might see some potentially new content for this great game.
Although there were a lot of rumors and nothing was confirmed, confirmation now comes to us from CD Projekt Red that the 11-year-old game will get a new expansion in 2027 called Songs of the Past. For now, we don't have much information, but what we do know is that Songs of the Past is the third expansion in a row coming for the award-winning game. It will be released in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and we know it will be developed together with the studio Fool’s Theory, which is made up of industry veterans who also worked on the original Witcher 3. And what is perhaps most important, we will play as Geralt again in the game.
In their social media post, CD Projekt also confirmed that they will have to update the game's system requirements to ensure smooth performance. The changes will take effect as early as the next update.
Starting from the next update, the new minimum requirements are as follows:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Intel Core i5-8400
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB VRAM: 6 GB
RAM: 12 GB
Storage: 70 GB SSD OS: 64-bit Windows 11
Among other significant changes regarding performance, Windows 11 will be the minimum required OS for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 due to the end of support for this system. HDDs will no longer be supported, as SSDs offer faster load times, and the game will exclusively run using DirectX 12.
As for Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish studio has ruled out the possibility of DLCs for that game, so fans who want to return to Night City will really have to wait for the sequel. Either way, the 60 million people who bought The Witcher 3 will now be able to enjoy even more new content next year!
