Funcom has released Dune: Awakening Chapter 3, delivering the game’s largest endgame update to date. The update completely reworks the Landsraad hub, introducing a mission-based system that replaces the older progression mechanics. Players can now take on repeatable missions across five specializations — Crafting, Gathering, Exploration, Combat, and Sabotage — earning Faction Rank, Great House standing, and specialization experience along the way.
What brings this update
The update also adds five new specialization tracks, letting players focus their characters on specific playstyles. Advancing in these tracks unlocks new abilities, including inventory expansion, combat perks, and access to the new Augmentation system. Tier 6 weapons and armor can now be enhanced with craftable augments at the Augmentation Station, giving players additional ways to customize their gear.
Overland content has been expanded with ten new locations, featuring challenge zones and repeatable Testing Stations with scalable boss encounters. The map has been visually updated, and certain resource requirements for exploration have been removed, making it easier to explore the deserts of Arrakis.
Combat receives notable additions as well. The Pyrocket, a powerful ranged weapon, and Dual Blades, offering fast melee combat, join the arsenal, while the Rapier has been completely reworked with new moves and defensive mechanics. Quality-of-life changes include the removal of base taxes, meaning players no longer need to pay Solaris in Arrakeen or Harko Village. Returning players who have been inactive for 28 days or more receive progression-scaled resource packages to help them reintegrate.

Chapter 3 also comes with brand new DLC
Chapter 3 continues the game’s storyline, bringing players into new story missions and character encounters, including a reunion with a familiar ally. Alongside the free update, Funcom has released the Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC, which adds 74 building pieces, 17 decorations, and new cosmetic items. The DLC is available for $9.99 standalone or as part of the $24.99 Season Pass, expanding construction and customization options for players.
With these updates, Dune: Awakening delivers a more structured endgame experience, additional combat options, and quality-of-life improvements aimed at both returning and new players. The combination of free updates and paid content ensures that players have plenty of reasons to return to Arrakis.
