Discord finally, after so long, got end-to-end encryption for almost all voice chats and video chats.
This is a feature that many people believe should have existed many years ago when Discord was first created.

This new end-to-end encryption protection covers voice calls, video calls, and streams in DMs and groups. Which means that Discord is now taking privacy and security much more seriously. Even more than that, Discord itself claims that even they will not be able to access the content of calls.

Discord was criticized for years because it did not have E2EE even though competitors like Signal and WhatsApp had already been using it for a long time. And since Discord is used by gamers, friend groups, developers, companies, and in some situations even schools; PRIVACY WAS BECOMING A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM!

However, there is one catch... And that is that this end-to-end encryption unfortunately currently does not fully cover server voice channels, nor all community features. So Discord has not suddenly become completely private, but it is a huge step forward and they are working toward it.

A lot of people are happy with this change and are very glad about it, but there are also skeptical comments about the situation because Discord is still not an open-source platform, meaning users still have to trust their claims about security.

All of this shows that Discord is trying to look more serious as a communication platform and not just a gaming app. Especially now in this era where people talk more and more about data privacy, surveillance, and online security.

Discord is finally introducing end-to-end encryption for most calls, and privacy and security are now becoming a bigger focus for the platform.
The community is mostly positive about this, but still a little skeptical.

The feature still does not cover the complete Discord ecosystem though.
