One of the biggest names in the survival horror industry, Glen Schofield, has officially retired. He announced that he is stepping away from the gaming industry after an incredible 36-year career. The creator of Dead Space, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, and founder of Striking Distance Studios recently revealed that he will no longer work on the day-to-day development of video games. He also thanked his colleagues, fans, and family for all of their support throughout the years.

Glen Schofield shared the news through a farewell video, where he said that he had the privilege of being part of one of the most creative periods in the history of the video game industry. He also explained that developing The Callisto Protocol was extremely demanding, especially because of the pandemic and the intense pace of development, which ultimately made him realize that he no longer wanted to lead major AAA projects on a daily basis.

Throughout his career, he worked on many well-known titles, but he is best known as the creator of the original Dead Space, one of the most influential survival horror franchises of all time. He later became one of the co-founders of Sledgehammer Games, where he worked on several Call of Duty games before founding Striking Distance Studios and leading the development of The Callisto Protocol.

The news sparked many emotional reactions from fans and developers. Many thanked him for his contributions to the industry and pointed out that Dead Space is still considered one of the greatest survival horror games of all time.

On social media, many players say that Glen Schofield has left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of developers, even though he is stepping away from active game development.

After 36 years in the video game industry, Glen Schofield has decided to step away from the day-to-day development of games.

His retirement marks the end of an era for survival horror fans, but the legacy he built through Dead Space, Call of Duty, and The Callisto Protocol will continue to live on for many years to come.
