“CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a new update today, October 22, 2026, bringing some new additions.”

Today, on Tuesday, October 22, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a new update called Edgerunners 2 (2.5), and although the details are not known to us down to the smallest specifics, from the name alone it is already clear that we will be getting content inspired by the anime that recently received a second season. It is the perfect time for players to return to the game, and so CD Projekt is offering new content. "Update 2.5 will be dropping on October 22, 2026, marking yet another opportunity to dive back into Night City or experience it for the very first time," the developer said.

On the social media channels of CD Projekt and the official Cyberpunk 2077 account, we got some hints as to what that content would be. As they wrote: "New Edgerunners, new chrome, new playstyle," adding: "We're talking cyberware customization, a new dual-wielding playstyle, and more!"

Specifically, the ability to dual-wield pistols, called Double Trouble, is being introduced. Likewise, we will get a new side quest and a new Clampdown Gig tied to the Edgerunners series. One might ask what the point is considering this is a first-person game, but we will be able to dress our character in 5 clothing sets and pick a new hairstyle for them. Of course, music from the series inside the game awaits us as well. Nothing without that!

It is also worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 is becoming an Xbox Play Anywhere title, which means that if you have the game on Xbox, you can also play it on PC and vice versa (if you bought the game through the Xbox app).
