Crimson Desert is changing its story after release, and the most important thing is that A DLC IS BEING PREPARED FOR THE GAME!
Pearl Abyss recently revealed that it plans to introduce significant changes to the story in Crimson Desert, while also actively working on DLC for the game. What's especially interesting about this is that some future updates will directly change the narrative and the way Kliff's journey is presented throughout the game.
And probably the craziest thing in this entire story is that the developer openly admits that it wants to improve the narrative based on feedback received from players. Usually, studios fix bugs, balance issues, or performance problems after launch, all basic stuff. But here we're actually talking about changing parts of the story, cutscenes, and narrative flow so that Kliff's adventure becomes more interesting and clearer to players. Pearl Abyss specifically says that it wants to strengthen the flow of the story and make it more engaging, which is a pretty direct response to the criticism and feedback the game received after its recent release.
As for the DLC, the developer has already confirmed that it is in development, but also that it doesn't want to reveal any details yet. Still, what's interesting is that they emphasize there is a good reason why they're calling it DLC, and that it will be significantly different from the base game in terms of scale, structure, or content. That definitely suggests we're not just talking about a few new missions and some regular cosmetics.
Fan reactions have mostly been positive. A lot of players are actually praising Pearl Abyss for the huge amount of post-launch support and can't wait for the DLC.
Crimson Desert is doing something we almost never see from major single-player RPGs; trying to improve the story itself after the game has already been released.
