Something completely unexpected has happened; Counter-Strike 2 has changed its bomb. The explosions are now much more spectacular, and believe it or not, players now have a better chance of surviving them.

Valve recently introduced a very interesting change to Counter-Strike 2 that drastically changes how the bomb works. Instead of the explosion instantly dealing damage to everyone within its range, a shockwave now travels across the map, meaning that walls and corners can protect players from part of the explosion.

The most interesting part is that this new mechanic was introduced with Premier Season 5, when the C4 explodes. Now, the shockwave spreads from the point of detonation instead of instantly applying damage to every player within its radius.

This basically means that players can now hide behind walls or good cover, which will often help them survive the explosion and save their weapons for the next round. Valve also added another helpful feature: during the countdown, the health bar now shows exactly how much damage you'll take if you stay in your current position.

The community's first reactions have been mostly very positive. Many players are happy and believe the new explosion looks far more impressive while adding extra depth to the core gameplay. Others, however, have expressed concerns that the change could make it too easy to save equipment after losing a round.

Valve, however, has already released a small patch that fixes several issues with the new explosion system, showing that the company is carefully listening to community feedback.

Valve has once again shown that even the smallest changes can have a huge impact in Counter-Strike 2.

The new bomb doesn't just deliver a more spectacular explosion—it also introduces a completely different way of calculating damage, meaning players will have to adapt their habits when saving equipment and retreating from the bomb site.
