Three weeks have already passed since Control Resonant saw the light of day, and the studio confirmed on its X account that the game has sold one million copies, making it the studio's fastest-selling game and surpassing Alan Wake 2, which held that record until now. While this isn't that impressive of a figure in the context of the industry—considering that Subnautica 2, for example, sold 2 million copies in just 12 hours—it is still a positive sign for all Remedy fans, especially when we add the fact that the game ended up on pirate sites right from the start.
Remedy's games undoubtedly enjoy immense respect from both critics and audiences, yet despite everything, they still struggle to achieve truly impressive numbers in the context of sales. Take Alan Wake 2 as an example: it scooped up numerous awards and likely would have been Game of the Year had Baldur's Gate 3 not been around back then, yet at this moment it has sold just over 3 million copies. That figure might sound big, but it isn't, especially considering that it took Remedy over a year and one million copies just to recoup the invested money and actually start making a profit.

"Control Resonant is Remedy's first self-published release of this scale, launched into one of the most competitive windows in years alongside the industry's biggest names. The game is unmistakably Remedy, with the bold ideas and distinctive style our players have come to expect from us," Jean-Charles Gaudechon said. "A huge thank you goes to our players and to the team, who have made Control Resonant the incredible game that it is.
"We have always believed Control deserved an even bigger audience, and this launch shows what's possible: we see the game connecting with long-time fans while bringing a significant number of new players into the world of Control, which strengthens its long-term potential. With Control and Alan Wake, we now have two established franchises. Our focus is to build on what makes them special, support them, and grow them even further. There is a lot more to come from these worlds."
