Capcom seems to want to release at least one Resident Evil game every year, and remakes are of course key to that.

Capcom wants the Resident Evil game to become an even bigger game series than it is now, getting a new sequel literally every year. And Capcom believes that Resident Evil game remakes are exactly the best way to achieve their goal.

Capcom recently explained during a conversation with investors that it wants the Resident Evil game to continue being one of its most important franchises and regularly receive new releases in the series.

The studio therefore does not plan to rely exclusively on completely new sequels, but instead wants remakes of older Resident Evil games to allow Capcom to keep the series active between new mainline games by simultaneously bringing classic titles back to modern audiences. This is a strategy that Capcom has already used very successfully with the Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes.

The most interesting question now is which Resident Evil games will actually get a remake.
Fans have been asking for a modern version of Resident Evil Code: Veronica for years, while rumors about a potential remake of Resident Evil 0 are also very popular.
Capcom has still not officially confirmed which title will be next, so for now we can only guess which one it will be. But if the studio really wants Resident Evil to be released on a yearly basis, remakes will almost certainly play a huge role in their schedule.

Capcom wants Resident Evil to get a new release every year, and the company sees remakes as a key way to maintain this pace.

That could mean that in the future we will get a combination of completely new sequels and modernized classics; practically Resident Evil every year.
