"It looks like the next Call of Duty game will not be released for PS4 or Xbox One consoles, and it seems like the entire series is finally leaving last-gen behind."

It looks like the next Call of Duty game will not be released for PS4 or Xbox One consoles, and it seems like the entire series is finally leaving last-gen behind.

Specifically, Activision officially stated: "The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4"
which literally means there will be no PS4 version of the new Call of Duty game, and most likely no Xbox One version either. This is the first time since 2013 that Call of Duty is skipping that generation, as CoD has been releasing on older consoles for more than 10 years.

This is finally a next-gen only Call of Duty game, and the reason for that can be several things; one of the main ones is that last-gen hardware was holding back graphics and game design, forcing developers to make compromises for weaker consoles. But now that they’ve moved to next-gen consoles, there are no more limitations and they can fully utilize PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X!

For years, Call of Duty has been a cross-gen game, even after the release of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. That’s because there was still a massive player base on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but now it’s been 6 years since the new generation launched, and it’s finally time to move on.

This marks the end of an era for Call of Duty, and the result is better graphics and performance, a bigger scope for the game, but unfortunately, some players who haven’t upgraded will be left behind. It also shows a trend where the industry is finally moving away from the old generation.

So, the new Call of Duty is not coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, and Activision has officially confirmed it. It’s a full transition to next-gen!

This is a "finally... about time" moment for the Call of Duty series!
