Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are finally coming to modern PlayStation consoles, and it's happening next month. FINALLY!
After months and months of rumors and leaked information about this topic, Activision and Treyarch have finally confirmed what fans have been hoping for for quite a long time. And that is Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which are getting new ports for modern PlayStation platforms as early as next month.
Treyarch officially announced that both cult-classic titles will arrive on PlayStation during July (next month). As for the ports themselves, they are being handled by Iron Galaxy. What's even more interesting is that it has been confirmed that the games will include all content from the original releases, including the campaign, multiplayer, and the legendary Zombies mode.
All of this comes after numerous leaks that suggested PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions had already been spotted on PlayStation servers, which is why many expected an official announcement during the Xbox Showcase event, but it actually happened only now.
Fans are mostly thrilled about all of this, however... There is one small catch, and that is that there is currently no announcement of a remaster for these two games. Everything so far indicates that these are ports of the original versions of the games, and not fully refreshed releases with more modern graphics.
Still, despite that, for many people it's enough just to be able to jump back into Kino der Toten, Mob of the Dead, or classic multiplayer without having to pull a ten-year-old console that's dying in a closet back out.
At one point, it seemed unimaginable that Black Ops and Black Ops II would remain locked to the PlayStation 3 era for so long, but the wait has finally come to an end. If you're nostalgic for the golden age of Call of Duty, July looks like the perfect time to return to Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and one of the best Zombies experiences the series has ever had.
