Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is Ubisoft’s “worst kept secret” finally revealed.
Ubisoft has officially showcased the remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, now titled Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced!

This is a remake of one of the most popular Assassin’s Creed games.
The game launches on July 9, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.

This is not a remaster, but a full remake built from the ground up! Black Flag was a fan favorite, so it makes sense they chose it as the first true remake in the series.

From everything shown about Black Flag Resynced, the core vibe remains. You still play as main character Edward Kenway, with a focus on pirate life, Caribbean exploration, and naval combat. The story stays the same as the original, with the same events, dialogue, and cutscenes. This means they are not changing what worked, just improving it.

New missions and additional content have been added for certain characters, such as Blackbeard.
There are also 3 new characters with optional storylines!

Combat has been significantly improved, along with stealth and parkour.
A modern engine, graphics, and animations all do a great job. The game feels the same, but now has that modern Assassin’s Creed feel!

Multiplayer has been removed, there are no DLC expansions from the original, and no modern-day gameplay sections.
Ubisoft is clearly streamlining the experience to focus purely on the pirate story.

This game is not an RPG like newer AC titles such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
It returns to the classic mission-based system and a more linear progression. This is the OG Assassin’s Creed style, not the newer open-world RPG formula.

Realistically, if they execute this properly, it has the potential to be the best Assassin’s Creed in the past few years, combining the old formula with modern technology.
