“Ubisoft has announced the final major update for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which arrives today, bringing everything from outfits to new challenges.”

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced won the hearts of both players and critics and sold well, restoring some much-needed trust that Ubisoft had been losing for years. Today, in just over 4 hours, the first and final update bringing new content will arrive.

The biggest highlight is without doubt the New Game+ mode, which players have been asking for ever since the game launched. With it, it is possible to carry over complete progress from the first playthrough into the second to replay the game, but this time the game will be a bit harder. The difficulty will scale five times—meaning you can replay and beat the game up to 5 additional times—which technically gives us New Game+++++.

Beating the game on New Game+ will reward the player with exclusive rewards. If that is not enough of a challenge, a new difficulty setting called Nightmare Mode is also being introduced. It brings an increased challenge to every segment of gameplay: enemies will deal more damage, you will have to master the parry mechanic perfectly since there will no longer be indicators, and enemies will have better perception and will use firearms more frequently.

"And that's not all," game director Richard Knight said. "Alongside these new features, we've also added new Easter Eggs, a host of rewards to discover – including community-inspired trinkets – new outfits, sails, and even adorable new pet cat skins. Thank you for your support, fan art, videos, and millions of photos shared in photo mode. It was a real honor to bring back Edward's legacy to life and to see that same excitement find its echo amongst you throughout the year."

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S July 9, 2026. Our reviewer had nothing but praise for the game, and you can read their review at the link.
