AION 2 is finally coming globally to Steam this year. After already being launched in Korea in 2025, it is now arriving worldwide!
Even though the 2025 Korean version was more mobile-focused with just a PC launcher called PURPLE, this new global version is fully built specifically for PC, meaning it’s not just a mobile port like the Korean version.
That’s a huge difference, because it means they’re actually aiming for a real MMO feel, not just a mobile cash grab. At least in theory… how it will actually turn out, we’ll see when it releases.
The game offers a massive open world, much bigger than the original. The gameplay focuses on flying and combat, bringing back that classic Aion vibe.
There will be PvE and PvP, dungeon raids, 1v1, 4v4, and large faction wars!
There will be 8 classes and a lot of customization options for those classes, skins, etc…
The story takes place 200 years after the original.
In the global version, servers will be local — EU, NA, etc… meaning better ping for players across different regions!
But it’s not just local servers — the game will also support multiple languages. ENG, DE, FR, etc…
The game can already be wishlisted on Steam!
There are also some potential issues. The Korean version had Pay to Win elements and heavy microtransactions. If that carries over to the global version, the game could quickly flop in the West.
A PC-only global version is definitely a big plus, bringing back the full Aion vibe with flying and faction wars.
But the biggest risk here is monetization.
If they handle monetization properly, this could be one of the bigger MMO comebacks.
But if they don’t, it could end up as just another hype that dies after a month.
