007 First Light got leaked before the game's actual release... So IO Interactive decided to release the gameplay early themselves, since it was already leaked anyway. They don’t really have much to lose at this point.
The first hour+ of gameplay from the newest game 007 First Light was leaked online. There are also a lot of story spoilers, including parts of the opening mission. Because of that, IO Interactive officially released the first 13 minutes of the game, the way it was intended to be seen.
They did this because so many things were already leaked that there was no point keeping it a secret anymore, and they didn’t really have much left to lose.
The gameplay actually shows that the game follows a young James Bond before he became a 007 agent. In the gameplay we see stealth, shooting, chase sequences, gadgets, and a lot of cinematic moments. The vibe is more like a mix of Hitman and Uncharted combined with classic James Bond movies.
Despite the leaked gameplay, people are still interested. And honestly it’s not surprising because this is the first major James Bond game in so many years. It’s being made by the same studio behind Hitman, so a lot of people believe IO Interactive is basically the perfect choice for a James Bond game. A lot of people are saying the gameplay looks much more action-focused than Hitman, but it still has stealth freedom which is great.
But the community currently has another drama besides the leaks.
Because it was recently revealed that the PC version uses Denuvo DRM, and a lot of people are angry because it was added practically right before launch, so the community reaction is currently mixed.
The leaks forced IO Interactive to show gameplay earlier, and the game looks like a cinematic spy-action version of Hitman. The hype is pretty strong.
But the Denuvo DRM drama is currently ruining part of the excitement.
