Samsung is preparing to roll out One UI Watch 4.5, bringing a more seamless and intuitive user experience to its Galaxy Watch lineup. The update, powered by Wear OS 3.5, introduces improved text input options, easier dual-SIM call management, and expanded accessibility tools designed to make the smartwatch more user-friendly than ever.
The forthcoming update marks a major step forward in smartwatch usability, delivering a complete on-screen text entry system. Users will be able to respond to messages, emails, or perform searches using a full QWERTY keyboard that supports swipe typing, in addition to existing voice dictation and handwriting options. More importantly, users can now switch fluidly between input methods — for instance, moving from speech-to-text to typing when privacy is needed.
Phone call functionality also receives a significant upgrade through dual-SIM support. Owners can select which SIM card to use directly from the watch, mirroring preferences set on their Galaxy smartphones. If the connected phone is configured to “Always Ask,” the same prompt now appears on the watch, ensuring seamless control over which number to place a call from — particularly useful for those managing business and personal lines.
Samsung has also emphasized personalization in this release. Watch face customization has been streamlined, allowing users to save their favorite designs, mix styles, and tailor colors and backgrounds to match daily outfits. These preferred watch faces remain stored for quick access, removing the need to scroll through the entire library.
Accessibility improvements are a core component of One UI Watch 4.5. The new system enables users to adjust color tones, boost contrast, and reduce screen effects such as transparency and animation—enhancements that aid visibility and comfort during use. For audio accessibility, connected Bluetooth devices can now be configured with distinct sound balance levels for the left and right channels.
Touch-based interactions have also been refined. New settings allow users to extend or filter screen touches through “Touch Duration” and “Ignore Repeated Touches” features, providing better control for those requiring adaptive input methods. Meanwhile, temporary elements such as volume sliders or notifications can remain visible longer using the new “Time to Take Action” option. All accessibility tools are consolidated within a single, dedicated menu for faster and simpler setup.
The One UI Watch 4.5 update will begin rolling out globally in the third quarter of the year, alongside additional features Samsung plans to unveil later.
