Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra introduces Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2
" The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra model presents this revolutionary innovation on its front displays, marking a historical milestone in mobile screen technology."
Today, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2, the first scratch-resistant and anti-reflective ceramic glass material in the mobile device sector.
Gorilla Armor 2 is an extraordinary achievement in ceramic glass technology that combines superior strength with exceptional clarity on a smartphone screen. Samsung's decision to introduce Gorilla Armor 2 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra confirms the long-standing collaboration between Samsung and Corning and the shared commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction of these two companies.
„The Galaxy S25 Ultra model represents a significant step toward providing the most durable mobile experience to date for our users,“ said Kwongjin Bae, Executive Vice President and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team within the Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics. „Our partnership with Corning continues to push the boundaries of display performance to meet the growing needs of users worldwide.“
Enhanced durability and visual clarity
In comparison to the first generation of Corning® Gorilla® Armor, Gorilla Armor 2 offers improved durability – devices equipped with the Gorilla Armor 2 layer handle the roughness and unpredictability of everyday life even better. Specifically, when dropped on rough and challenging surfaces, Gorilla Armor 2 is designed to more effectively resist damage, such as breaking, than ever before.

The anti-reflective properties of the Gorilla Armor 2 layer significantly reduce surface reflections in indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. These properties can improve display contrast, providing an outstanding user experience in various light environments.
In Corning laboratory tests, Gorilla Armor 2 survived drops from heights of up to 2.2 meters onto a concrete-like surface. Alternative ceramic glass materials did not withstand drops from a height of one meter. Additionally, Gorilla Armor 2 maintained its exceptional scratch resistance, showing more than four times greater resistance compared to competing lithium-aluminosilicate glasses with an anti-reflective coating.
„Samsung and Corning have a long history of collaboration in providing the most advanced and innovative technologies for users,“ said David Velasquez, Vice President and General Manager of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. „With Gorilla Armor 2, we offer users an unrivaled experience with the first optically advanced and most durable exterior material ever used for a Galaxy device.“
