Apple could hold another event as soon as October 13, according to the latest information from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Just a few weeks after unveiling its new generation of iPhones, the company could once again turn the spotlight on new products, but this time the focus would not be on phones. Instead, Apple is expected to concentrate on home devices and a new generation of its ecosystem.
The most interesting announcement is expected to be the long-awaited Apple smart home hub, a device designed to become the central control point for the smart home while also serving as a physical interface for the next generation of Siri features.
According to currently available information, the event has not yet been officially announced, so October 13 should be treated as a date coming from well-informed sources rather than a confirmed date from Apple.
Apple event could mark the company's more serious push into the Smart Home
The new smart home device is expected to combine a display, voice controls, and management of devices connected through the HomeKit and Matter standards.
The idea is for it to serve as a central controller for Apple's home ecosystem while also becoming a platform through which the company could make much greater use of the capabilities of the next generation of Siri.
Apple has already had individual pieces of this ecosystem for years: HomePod, Apple TV, the Home app, Siri, and HomeKit, but it does not currently have a device that brings them all together in the same way as smart displays from competing companies.
The new hub is expected to fill that gap.
Alongside it, a new generation of Apple TV devices is also expected. Current information points to a more modern hardware platform and better integration with the rest of the Apple ecosystem, while a refreshed HomePod mini is also expected to be introduced.
It is particularly interesting that this event could show how Apple intends to expand its AI features beyond the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
A smart home device with a display represents a natural place for a voice assistant capable of understanding broader context and controlling other devices around the home.
However, some caution is still necessary until Apple officially confirms the event.
The company has not yet sent out invitations or publicly announced an event for October 13, meaning both the date and the final list of products could still change.
If the latest information proves accurate, Apple would hold another significant product presentation within a very short period of time, this time focusing on the smart home and devices designed to connect different parts of its ecosystem, Bloomberg reports.
