“Siri AI is still unavailable in the European Union, and Mark Gurman says Apple users could face months of waiting as regulatory tensions continue.”

One of the biggest new features of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 is the new AI-powered Siri assistant, but it is still unavailable in the European Union despite Apple releasing iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 last month. If you were wondering how much longer you might have to wait, the news is not particularly encouraging.

According to generally reliable Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, we should not expect Siri AI to become available in the EU anytime soon.

Apple reportedly wants to use Siri AI’s absence from the European Union as a way to encourage frustrated users to “pressure the EU’s regulatory approach.”

If that is indeed the strategy, it is certainly an interesting one: convince people to spend a significant amount of money on products that are missing one of the features you advertise most heavily, then rely on those same customers to complain about EU regulations until regulators change their position — after which users might finally receive the feature they were originally promised.

It is complicated logic even by Apple standards, which is saying something.

In any case, Gurman says we should look at the rollout of Apple Intelligence for an indication of what could happen next.

Apple Intelligence launched outside the European Union in October 2024, but did not arrive in the EU until March 2025. That means European users had to wait roughly five months.

Gurman believes we could see a similar delay with Siri AI — and that would be the absolute best-case scenario.

In the worst case, European users could be waiting considerably longer.
