Zen Pinball: Fear Itself

Fear Itself is a DLC pinball table for Zen Pinball 2 (Mac) and on mobile for Zen Pinball ((T)HD) and Marvel Pinball, available as an in-app purchase.

It is based on the 2011 Marvel crossover comics with seven issues of the same name, mainly as a crossover of the characters Captain America and Thor. In this table The Avengers take on the Asgardian god the Serpent and his minions as they intend to devastate Earth. The Blitzkrieg of America is led by the herald Skadi and to beat the table the seven vanguard of the Serpent (the Worthy) need to be defeated.

The table has a regular set of flippers at the bottom and an additional one near the top right. The outlanes are curved and bend down to form half a circle. An additional lane with an identical curve runs below and for some parts of the game such as the skillshot or Thunder God Hurry-up the player can activate boost arrows that push the ball through the circle. That way, it does not disappear, but is launched upwards on the other side. This is also used during Chaos Multiball where some balls can get stuck in half the circle, looping endlessly, and they need to be knocked out through loop shots to get them into play. The main missions are based around the seven Worthy, each with their own requirements to beat. Generally, after meeting the initial demands, the Worthy character appears on the table and needs to be hit in multiple positions to be defeated completely.

Skadi launches the ball with her hammer and there are other animated characters, such as the Serpent itself, Odin to lock balls, a giant robot for the Blitzkrieg etc. There is also a three-ball Avengers Multiball mode where each ball is designed with the colours of a different Avengers character.
