About
Wild West Shootout is a shooting gallery game for one or two players, with support for anaglyph 3D mode.
There are four gameplay modes: Tutorial, Story, Wanted and Two Player. Tutorial mode is a target practice mode, where players shoot barrels, crates, jars, pots and other objects. Story mode is the main game. Wanted is a boss rush mode and Two Player is two player mode.
Story mode contains four chapters each broken up in three parts, the chapters are Ranch, Indian Village, Canyon and Western Town. The levels contain typical wild west settings: a barn, a bank, a railroad station, gold mines. In some levels the player is riding on horseback or in a mine cart on rails. There is a double barrel power-up and in some levels the player gets a gatling gun. Throughout the levels there are cows and horses confined by a small wooden fence, shoot the fence to free the animals for bonus points. At certain points in the level, two or more arrows will appear on screen and the player can choose a path by shooting an arrow.
The game had a cartoonish wild west theme and it is generally aimed at children. When enemies are shot they just disappear with a dust cloud and leave a white surrender flag. There are some culturally insensitive depictions of native Americans, featuring cartoonishly big noses and war cries.
