2About
This Google Doodle was made in honor of the birthday of the creator of the Scoville Scale, a way of measuring the "heat" of various hot peppers like jalapeños, cayenne and Scotch bonnets. The game portrays Wilbur Scoville trying out an increasingly spicy succession of peppers, attempting to fend off the effects of their heat with ice cream. The game then transitions to a fighting game-like screen with an ice cream cone on the left and the offending pepper on the right. There is a bar on the bottom of the display colored green in the middle to red on its edges; a cursor swings from end to end and the player must click when they want it to stop. The closer the cursor is to the middle, the more "damage" the ice cream can do to the pepper. The player gets three attempts before the ice cream cone is empty. In between each round a true fact about the attacking pepper is displayed.
