Warhounds

In Warhounds, the player's nation is in space war with the Suavians. Of course this means a number of missions have to be carried out which involve surviving vertically scrolling levels. The player's ship can only take a few hits before being destroyed, but thankfully it is equipped with a primary gun with unlimited ammo and a limited secondary weapon. For both systems, there are two choices before starting a new game: shield (protects the ship from enemy attacks for a short time) or nuke (blast damage) for the secondary and straight shot or expander for the primary weapon. The latter are initially identical, but behave differently when weapon upgrades are collected from killed enemies: while the straight shot becomes stronger, the expander adds multiple simultaneous shots.
