About

Virtual Jockey is an unreleased horse-racing simulation game. The game casts the player as a young novice jockey with the ability to speak with horses, who dreams of winning the Japan Derby with a horse raised by his father. The game's focus was on winning races by directly controlling the rider, and race scenes were to be presented in a full polygonal 3D. The story mode would have included numerous races against a variety of opponent, including against an evil group called "Kaiser" attempting to sabotage other racers for their own gains.

Coverage and screenshots of the game, including advertisements, were shown in magazines throughout 1995. The game was scheduled for a December 1995 release but was cancelled after the Virtual Boy was discontinued by Nintendo. The game was subsequently reworked, keeping the character designs and many gameplay elements, and released the following year for the PlayStation as Jockey Zero.
