Tokyo Wakusei Planetokio

About

Sometime in the future, the Tokyo Metropolis was destroyed in an enormous earthquake. It was subsequently rebuilt, with each constituent city constructed as a floating island, connected by flying trains and cars. However, the peace of Tokyo is threatened once more by an alien invasion. Dr. Hokin, who leads the Planetokio Defense Force from a hidden base inside a ramen shop, sends his pupil Iken to exterminate the alien threat using his specially-developed anti-alien ray gun "Narunaru MK1".

Tokyo Wakusei Planetokio is a surreal adventure game from the creators of LSD: Dream Emulator and the Eastern Mind series. The bulk of the game consists of side-view exploration segments, in which the player controls Iken as he moves about the various wards of Tokyo, speak with residents, solving puzzles to access no areas, and collecting items to use against the alien threat. There are occasional stealth sections where Iken must avoid patrolling enemies without being caught, and each of the seven chapters culminates in a boss fight against the alien. In the boss fights, Iken must select items from his inventory, then chooses to fire them at the boss either normally or charged with energy, often with amusing results. If Iken is captured or loses to a boss, he wakes up at a nearby hospital and can try again.
