About

Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Universe is a 3D multiplayer brawler set in the Tiny Toons universe. This is essentially an adaptation of Treasure's earlier party fighting game Rakugaki Showtime in a new setting; like in that game, players roam through large 3D stages which are littered with various items they can pick up and toss at their opponents.

The story mode, which is playable with up to four players, follows the aftermath of Montana Max's takeover of a mysterious alien planet called Gold Star. Gold Star's residents flee to Earth, where they enlist Buster, Babs, Plucky Duck and Hamton in helping them out. The story mode stages feature a mixture of normal enemies and giant bosses, and all cutscenes are voiced by members of the original cartoon's cast. In addition to the story mode, there's a four-player versus mode which features a larger number of selectable characters.

Defenders of the Universe was originally announced in 2001 as Tiny Toons Adventures: Defenders of the Looniverse for a planned release in 2002. While the game was reportedly complete, it missed its release date. The PlayStation 2 version remained on upcoming game lists as recently as 2004, with a possible release date of 2004 or 2005, but ultimately disappeared.
