About
The Haunted: Hell's Reach is a multiplayer third-person shooter set in Hell. Each player takes the role of one of four (besides the looks identical) humans which have to survive against zombies and other monsters. There are four playing modes: Inferno (fighting through enemy waves on the eight maps followed by a final boss battle), Survival (surviving as long as possible against an endless enemy horde), Battle (team deathmatch with four humans against four monsters) and Demonizer (each killed human becomes a monster). Inferno and Survival can also be played in single-player.
Most of the time the game does not digress from the usual shooter mechanics: moving around, zooming in for better aim and shooting at monsters before they reach the player. The only big difference comes into place when health is low: then rage kicks in and each melee attack becomes an instant kill and restores a little bit of health. Health does not simply spawn in designated spots but in the form of stones - health is regained by shooting them, but they are only available for a short time. The same mechanic applies to chronostones (unleashes negative effects like fog over the map when not destroyed) and soulstones (needs to be destroyed to allow a killed player to respawn). There also is an upgrade meter; when it is filled the next killed monster drops an upgrade which can be applied to one of the four weapon types (melee, handguns, shotguns and fully automatic weapons).
