The Dark Queen of Mortholme

The Dark Queen of Mortholme is a narrative-focused action game where instead of controlling the hero, the player controls the game's "final boss". The titular Dark Queen sits atop her throne, awaiting the arrival of the hero coming to challenge her—but no matter how many times she stomps him, he inexplicably keeps coming back.

The story unfolds differently depending on how the player responds to the hero's persistence, whether by attempting to match it equally to the bitter end or conceding defeat. The antagonistic yet inextricable relationship between the hero and the Dark Queen is explored and deconstructed through their repeated attempts to vanquish one another, until only one is left standing.
