A sequel to the games Tempest and Tempest 2000, Tempest 3000 takes Tempest's original formula of a "shoot enemies as they approach you on the inside of a 3D surface and survive as long as possible" and continues Tempest 2000's efforts to add more psychedelic visual effects and gameplay mechanics.
