About

The iOS port of Tales of Phantasia converts the Full Voice Edition into a game-as-a-service, making major changes in the process. This port requires an Internet connection to get past the title screen, to load and to save. You only get access to one save slot. The Normal difficulty has been removed and the game starts at the Hard difficulty. Save points that were previously found right before dungeon bosses have been disabled. In lieu of physical buttons, attacks are now done by tapping on different sections of the touchscreen - high or low. Arte activations are done by flicking gestures in different directions. Being a game-as-a-service, this port has a daily login reward, granting random 1-hour buffs such as double Gald drop, double item drop rate, double cooking proficiency rate and -10% vendor prices. Finally, this port also adds the following in-app purchases:

  • Miracle Orb: Upon the deaths (or incapacitations by equivalent status effects) of all party members in combat, you can use this item to get a revive of all party members to full health and a 100% boost to their stats for the rest of the battle.
  • Holy Lamp: Disable random encounters temporarily.
  • EXP boosts to all party members of various amounts.

For the English version specifically, this port also received a different localization script from the Game Boy Advance version.
