About

Taikyoku Renju is an adaptation of renju, a professional variant of the board game gomoku. It is a game of "Connect Five" played on a 15x15 Go board with Go pieces. The renju variant limits the moves allowed to the black player, balancing out their advantage of having the first move.

The game's single player mode offers three difficulty levels and consists of ten consecutive matches. There are also two different multiplayer modes via link cable. Finally, a puzzle mode offers randomized renju situations tasking the player to win from the given situation.

Despite only being released in Japan, the game offers an English language mode. There is a choice of either silence or one of four different music tracks during gameplay.
