About
Startseed Pilgrim is a puzzle platformer where the player control a gardener in a world with an 8-bit visual design. The puzzle elements serves the main goal of the game: a means to explore the game world. The game consists of different levels that are reached by going through successive game sessions. The gardener is always standing on some sort of platform or he falls to his death. He can move left, right and jump. It is also possible to dig through the blocks that make up the platform in the directions left, right and down.
Progress through the world is achieved by planting seeds, which come in a limited amount. The queue of the next three seeds is shown above the gardener's head. They can be planted in the block the gardener is standing on and based on the colour a different effect is achieved. A large part of the game is spent figuring out the use of the seeds and how to progress. Danger is present through a black mass that gradually corrupts the environment. The gardener must attempt to outrun it, but that is not the goal of the game itself. Through a number of factors a nether version of the world can be accessed where the gardener's actions provide additional means to progress.
