About

Starblazer is a 1-player strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

When the crew of the USS Wasp left the peaceful Spectrum Galaxy, the player was commanding officer of the most modern star vessel known to science. But, after being trapped in a negative dimensional time warp for an eon or two, the predatory Xyclons have overrun the player's home galaxy, and the Wasp is the only vessel left to attack these predatory invaders. The player's goal is to destroy all Xyclon patrol vessels and mother ships before the USS Wasp is destroyed.

The main screen is divided into a central viewport and four minor viewports in the north, south, east, and west directions. The entire galaxy is divided into 16 sectors, which the player can warp between. One of these sectors contains an old Starbase, where the player can resupply. This location is hidden and randomized each game.

The ship's current arsenal, power, and system status is located at the right of the screen. The ship is armed with a number of weapon systems, including nuke torpedoes, QRay, and mines. Combat and landing occur from an arcade perspective.
