Speedball 2 HD

Speedball 2 HD is a remake of the 16-bit future sport title Speedball 2. It is a sporting game, in which everything is allowed. You can either try to score goals for points, but can also try to knock out opposite players, which also grants points. Some additional elements on the playing field like bumpers, stars or point modifiers allow different ways to get more points than the opposite team. Randomly appearing extra items can have a huge influence on the situation by knocking down all opposite players, freezing them or giving your players a temporary boost. During play, you can also collect money and also for wins money is rewarded, which can either be invested in new players on the transfer market or in the gym for training your current team players.

The HD port keeps the basic gameplay mostly identically. The arena top-view, player sizes and overall size relations are identical to the original. Also the control is like on the 16-bit versions, although modern controllers can be used.

The original game is extended by various additional features: a new cinematic intro, 6 new playing arenas and 12 new teams are added, there are achievements to be reached and a career mode letting you fight through the divisions. After winning the first division you qualify for the intergalactic league. A local multi player mode for up to 8 local players is integrated. The most significant change in the core gameplay is the tactic setting which can be changed before or anytime during the game. You can choose your team tactics from five different predefined settings ranging from „very defensive“ to „very offensive“, which changes the AI lineup of your team. Also, ball physics are changed a bit, so it is easier to throw a curved ball. There is less money to collect during the game, as an amount of money is rewarded after each match depending on the result.
