About
This is a tactical first-person shooter featuring the Russian special forces 'Specnaz'.
The player can select either a solo mode called 'Geroy' (which translates to 'Hero'), or a team/tactical campaign mode, where the player has access to a satellite camera view of the mission area, and can interact with his AI buddies through a top-down interface to order them to move/position themselves or attack a given target, or in a first-person view given orders to buddies in the players direct view.
The player has access to a normal set of Russian assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, grenades and plastic explosives. There are vehicles that can be driven, but not fired from, though running over enemies is a possibility.
A training mission lets you try some of the functions in the game, but the manual is rather scarce on explaining the keys; e.g. there is a description of how to enter the satellite camera mode, but not how to exit it; there is some experimenting needed to get the hang of things.
Enemies will be alerted by loud gunfire and close misses, and they will react to finding dead comrades, and may come hunting for your troop.
There are only three save-points allowed in each mission, but these will be lost if the mission is aborted, so each mission needs to be completed in order to progress to the next one. When you restore a save-game in-mission, enemies will stay alerted to your presence, and not go back to the state they were in at the time you did the save, so there will probably be patrols coming for you at the spawn point.
The game has five campaigns, with dozens of missions around the world, telling a story of recovering a lost shipment of USSR's nuclear arms.
