About

Space Seeker is a hybrid science-fiction themed shoot-em-up, consisting of both horizontal scrolling and first-person combat sections.

The main screen shows the surface of a planet. You have a base stocked with ships, which you must defend. And at the start of each level, there are three enemy fighter fleets, three less maneuverable missile batteries, and various planetoids that act as obstacles. Your aim is to intercept all of the enemy forces before they are able to take out your base.

Contact with a fighter fleet takes you to a first person screen. Enemies appear from the distance and will try to swoop down and collide with your guns. You can only move your guns horizontally, so it's only possible to kill the enemy as they pass the center of the screen, and try to avoid the enemy as they approach your guns. Destroying all of the enemies will remove that fleet from the main screen.

Intercepting one of the missile batteries takes you to a Scramble like horizontal shooter. Here, you are beset by missiles, bombs and artillery of various types. You can fire guns and drop bombs in an effort to survive the barrage. At the end of the level, you have the option of traversing a narrow twisty passage to earn bonus points. Making it to the end of the level will sometimes cause the battery to be destroyed. It's possible that you need to a have destroyed a certain number of the missiles before the battery is finally defeated, so multiple passes may be needed.

Once all of the enemy has been destroyed on the current planet, you are taken to the next one, with similar game-play but some differences in enemy graphics and movement.
