About
Sonic Origins is a compilation of Sonic the Hedgehog games released on the Sega Mega Drive console and its addon, the Mega-CD:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Sonic the Hedgehog CD
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
Rather than being simply emulated, all of the games in this compilation were re-made from the ground up, allowing for widescreen aspect ratio and higher quality visuals. Other than the games themselves, this compilation contains a challenge mode where players complete various missions, a mirror mode and a "Classic" mode which allows players to experience the games as they were originally. Coins are the main currency in this compilation and are used as a replacement for lives system (e.g. they allow players to re-play Special Stages) and for the in-game museum, where players can look at concept arts and listen to music from various games of the series.
