Sniper Elite: Resistance

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a third-person tactical shooter and a continuation of the Sniper Elite series. The game retains the franchise’s emphasis on stealth, open-ended gameplay, and tactical sniping mechanics. It is set in 1944 Vichy France and introduces a new lead character, Harry Hawker, a Special Operations Executive (SOE) agent. The story unfolds parallel to Sniper Elite 5: France, with Hawker working alongside the French Resistance to prevent the Nazis from deploying a powerful Wunderwaffe that could turn the tide of the war.

The game features expansive levels designed for open-ended player choice, with multiple infiltration and extraction points. Players can utilize stealth tactics, explore environments to uncover alternate routes, or engage in direct combat using an array of customizable firearms. The game retains the Sniper Elite series’ signature X-ray kill cam, which showcases bullet impacts on enemy bodies in slow-motion detail. Gunplay incorporates advanced ballistics, requiring players to account for factors such as wind, gravity, and heart rate when lining up shots.

The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively online, allowing players to share weapons, items, and tactical support. The game introduces Propaganda Mode, a set of time-based missions unlocked by collecting propaganda posters, in which players assume the role of a French Resistance fighter. The Axis Invasion mode from Sniper Elite 5 also returns, enabling players to invade another’s campaign as an enemy sniper. Additionally, the game includes a competitive 16-player online multiplayer mode and a cooperative survival mode for up to four players.

The arsenal consists of historically authentic World War II weapons, with extensive customization options available through workbenches scattered across the campaign. Players can modify rifles, pistols, and secondary weapons by upgrading scopes, stocks, barrels, and magazines, as well as selecting different ammunition types suited for specific combat scenarios. Sniper Elite: Resistance is comparable in scale to Sniper Elite 5, with new features such as an additional grenade type and expanded mission objectives inspired by Sniper Elite 5's Spy Academy level.
