About
Snake III is a variation of the Snake game. This version comes pre-installed with several Nokia mobile phones, starting with the Nokia 6270 and 6280. It is Nokia's second 3D entry in their Snake franchise following Snakes, but unlike that game, Snake III has a more cartoonish style.
There are three game modes: Classic, Custom, and Adventure.
-
Classic mode retains the gameplay from the original: the player must guide the snake to one fruit at a time (apples, pears, and cherries). The game ends once the snake eats through its body or if it hits a wall.
-
Custom mode allows the player to configure and play a game session through various settings (level design, amount of fruit spawning, enabling or disabling obstacles and/or temporary power-ups etc.). There is also the option to play the game with randomized settings.
-
In Adventure mode, the player must guide the snake through several levels within a time limit, being required to make the snake long enough to open the door to the next level. This mode retains a few additional elements from Custom mode (most notably the power-ups), and unlike the two previous modes, the snake is more invincible, and will only lose the game if it reaches a dead end or the time runs out.
The first two game modes can also be played with a second player via Bluetooth. Additionally, the player can change the snake's color (red, green, and yellow), and select between two camera modes ("Classic", and "3D Chaser", which follows the snake from behind its head).
A version of the game pre-installed with low-end phones exists, which uses pre-rendered sprites of the snakes in a 2D environment instead of 3D models.
