About
Self Simulated is a fast-paced 2D action platformer. The player controls a digital copy of their own character's mind, uploaded into a robot body inside a mysterious facility. The goal is to progress through over 100 short, self-contained levels while recovering fragments of the protagonist’s lost memories.
The game emphasizes precision controls, quick restarts, and compact level design. If the player is defeated, referred to as being rebooted", the level restarts from the beginning. Several assist options, such as a triple jump and automatic stomp, can be enabled to reduce difficulty. For advanced players, the game includes a speedrun mode, a hardcore mode that resets progress on a single hit, and an "insane" mode without saving.
Additional features include an autosave system, a built-in speedrun timer, hidden rooms, and optional achievements. The game is compatible with Game Boy Color hardware, the ModRetro Chromatic, and most compatible clone handhelds.
