About
Sega Golden Gun is a rail shooter for one or two players. It is very similar to The House of the Dead, except set in China with mythical monsters and warriors.
Two unnamed students are touring China, during a visit to a museum they are suddenly attacked by mythical creatures and zombies. The museum security guard hands them the two Golden Guns to fight the hordes of monsters as they try to figure out the source of this supernatural phenomena.
Players move through the city as they shoot zombies, monsters, statues that come to life, skeletons, ghosts, warriors and more. Occasionally a mysterious white hooded character appears who wants to test the players' speed and strength. At the end of each level there is a boss fight; a giant turtle-snake hybrid, a blue dragon that snakes through the sky, a concubine tiger lady that seduces you by throwing pink hearts, a red dragon, and finally a giant warrior. After defeating each boss, the players hop onto the subway train and they can select the next level, allowing for different paths through the game.
Throughout the levels there is a travelling salesman with a red velvet suitcase, players can buy the items for sale and payment is subtracted from the players' score; there is an extra magazine, extra power, extra life, missile, weakener, shotgun and more. The cabinet features two decorated golden guns with recoil action, an octagon shaped light and two extra speakers close up to the players.
