About

SD Gundam: G Century is a turn-based strategy game based on the popular Mobile Suit Gundam anime franchise. It is a precursor to the long-running G Generation strategy series, and includes units and scenarios from various Gundam series and media up through 1996's After War Gundam X. The game is a top-down hex-based strategy game where up to four factions take turns moving their units to attempt to defeat their opponents. When two units engage in combat, the battles take the form of side-scrolling action sequences which are directly controlled by the player.

In addition to the main scenario mode, there is also a single map mode where the player can select any map type and set of factions, two challenge modes, an action battle mode which contains only the combat sequences, and a formation edit mode. Up to four players can compete on one map.

The later Sega Saturn version, G Century S, includes some minor balance changes and additional unit types but is otherwise the same game.
