About
Sacred Citadel is a 2.5D brawler set in the Sacred universe, and takes inspiration from classic brawlers such as Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. The game has some typical brawler features, such as the ability to perform combo attacks, pick up new weapons and ride mounts, but also has an RPG element, allowing you to collect weapons and armor, as well as level up your character.
The backstory revolves around a character called the Gatebreaker, who is sent by the evil Ashen empire to destroy the Seraphim's Citadel. In order to gather enough strength to do this, the Gatebreaker requires two magical artifacts. The heroes in the story gets involved as the town they are currently in gets attacked by the Grimmocs - henchmen of the Gatebreaker who are searching for the artifacts.
The game has 4 different character classes to choose from: Warrior, Ranger, Mage and Shaman. The game can be played with up to 3 players cooperatively, either locally or online. The progression is linear, taking the player through 5 worlds (Monolith Forest, Grimmoc Swamp, Corroded Wilderness, Seraphim Mountains and Jungles). The game has in total 25 levels, and 4 towns. Across the game there are several mini-boss encounters of tougher enemies, as well as larger boss fights, one in each world.
