About

Rule the Waves is a strategy game in which players take on the role of a grand admiral of one of the major naval powers from 1900 to 1925 (e.g., Britain, Germany, Japan, and others). The game is based on Naval Warfare Simulations's engine from the Steam and Iron series of games.

The ships in the game are procedurally generated and not historical. The player must research technologies, design ships, and fight wars while keeping track of parameters such as budget, prestige, political unrest, and international tension.

The scale of the game is in unstructured monthly turns. The game has real-time tactical combat (with the ability to pause the game to give commands) where the player controls every squadron or just the flagship (depending on the combat mode chosen).
